it had some sand stuck to it i glued the sand to a rock it fell off not i have it on a rock with peace of rock on it hoping it will stick is there a better way??

There are few ways to do it. What I found the easiest ( not my original idea ) was to to take a small glad plastic tupperware type container ( any brand will be fine even the cheap deli ones as long as the cover stays on ), make a bunch of holes on top, bottom and sides, layer some rubble and shells in it. Then put the mushroom in and close the lid and leave it at the bottom of the tank. After a few days it should attach to something.

I rubber band them to rocks, not too tight but enough to keep them in place, shouldn't be squishing them, but just gently pressing against it. I haven't noticed any harmful effect, my hermits even pick at it and they are fine, and they eventually cut through the rubber band.
