What happens after Acan completely covers Disk or Rock

Hi all,

I am an LPS newb and I was just wandering what happens when acans have completely covered a rock or frag disk? Will the skeletal structure continue to grow? Or should I find a bigger rock to set it on?

I keep my acans on the bottom (BB Tank) but i do not want them to encrust onto the bottom to the point that they cannot be removed from the tank. Is this something i should keep an eye on?

It will continue to grow, but at a much slower rate. Encrusting seems to take less energy than growing out over sand for example.

Like Deen said, the Lords (Aussie) will grow faster on a rock.
Echinata (Agent Orange) will grow fast with thier own skeleton, but will encrust onto the the starboard.

Get shelf rock & break it up.

"epoxy" little pricey but....make your own shape, flat, thin easy to frag.

You can keep em there for now wes. just check them and move em every once in a while. Or do the ceramic tile trick =0) Just check what the tiles are made of. Can cut them to any size = bigger frag disks. just make sure there's nothing to leach into the tank.
