Recently acquired a Rose Anemone and had a nice open cave all set up for it. I placed it in and within a week, it found a hole in the back of the cave and sqeeked out. I have a 70g Oceanic reef tank and the a
Anemone has moved to a spot dead center in the tank in a pocket behind my live rock. Needless to say my Clowns are back there too and only come out at feeding time. Tonight I noticed the Anemone moved up but its blocked by some polyps and mushrooms that are on rocks, My question is, do I give it an exit route by moving some of the rock and coral ? Or do I wait and see where it goes next ? Its a gorgeous specimen, about 7in , and I hate the fact that you cant see it.

and watch your corals...mine rbta moved a bunch when I got it, and when I moved my tank...when it did move, it would basically kill anything that it could touch....except for the frog spawn, that held its own and ripped off an anemone tentical....

Will the RBTA survive in the meantime ? There is no way I can target feed it back there . I have my wife calling me at work during the day and telling me what its doing. By 2pm its tentacles have expanded to the point where its slightly touching some zoos and mushrooms that are on some rock above it and Im a little nervous about it.

It'll be just fine without feeding. If your clowns are eating, chances are some of that food is making it to the anemone in any case. I wouldn't worry about it touching zoas, mine brushes against my zoas all day for the past month or more and both are fine. Also, its almost literally on top of a toadstool leather and the toad still expands and polyps and the anemone is fine too.

Only thing the anemone has problems with are corals like frogspawn and torches at least thats what mine has problems with.

also if you get a chance and it moves to a rock you can move, i would place it on its own island. I had problems with my rbta moving but once it settled on a rock I moved it to where i wanted it and its been there the whole time. Just a thought........

re on anemone

I have the same problem with my anemone except mine likes to hide in cave and stay in an area in the tank that has the least light and waterflow is that normal ?
