Maze Coral

I had this part of the maze coral in shade under an overhang for over a week, it was slightly lighter when i put it under and i thought it was bleaching and needed some time off from the lights - but now it is more white.... so i moved it back into the middle of the tank.... thoughts?

What lighting you have again?

I don't believe it's due to lighting.

150 watt metal halides.... a sunpod

Ph = 8.4
Salinity = 1.025 (though i did experience a swing over the break since my brother didnt top off for two days.... i think the swing went to 1.028, but i brought it back down)
Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0

I have a newly purchased maze brain and it was like that when I got it on the bottom side when I left it in the light in the middle or the dimmer part of my tank it came back fine but I have 2 400 watt 12k reflux with lumenarc reflectors so I would say it just needs the light...
Also does yours have sweeper tenticles that come out when you stick your hand or food in the tank???

So i went out and got some test kits....
A Salifert Alkalinity (batch 1106-D), A Salifert Calcium and a Red Sea Alk/PH

The Salifert Alk Test didn't change color at all when i added the buffer
I tested twice which would mean 16.0 dKH and 5.71 meq/L unless the kit is a dud... i hope :grumpy:
The RedSea Alk read within "normal range" on the gradated chart (thanks for the super accurate test kits RedSea!)
Anyways their ph was worth it just to double check the ph.... which is 8.4

The Salifert Calcium read at 370 ppm.



Ideas? Is my Alk really 16? That would be scary....



here's the version for the people who just skip over the text:
Salifert Alk - 16.0 Dkh
Salifert Cal - 370 ppm
Red Sea Alk - Normal
Red Sea PH - 8.4

Nothing at all, just water changes.

than your alk can't be that high..

i think im gonna do a 10 gallon (33%) water change today, just to be safe

i dont know what it could be i have the same coral if you got it from the swap. and it si under 130 watt pcs and it is doing great
