I bought some mushrooms from NaCl-H2O at the frag swap, and I've noticed since I've placed the mushrooms in my tank, that there is one or two that will always close up. In this photo for example, the mushroom on the upper right corner of the photo has shrunk. At other times, it's any of the other mushrooms.

My parameters have been stable ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates <5ppm. I have my lights on from 4pm until 2am (I'm a night owl). The rock with the mushrooms is located about 8-12 inches from the water surface (+3 inches from the lights).

It looks like the mushrooms are crowding each other. So the ones that are in the better position to open up and get more light will tend to be open all the time or open bigger. What usually happens over time is some of the mushrooms on the outside will move off the rock to get a better position. You may want to frag the mushrooms so they have more space.

Wow, the shrooms look great!

I would imagine the shrooms are a bit overcrowded. You may wake up to find one or two of them missing and then one day find them in another part of the tank!

They look super!
