Hi,
I bought this coral from Ronen at the last swap, I know manny people here did also. I want to know how your coral is doing? Mine is not doing to well and would like to know where would be the best place to put this coral I would hate to loose it.
Thanks.

Most favias don't like too much intense lighting. I have mine sitting at the bottom with very indirect mh. Also moderate flow is good.
Just so you know my favia started to bleach at one point, so I moved it even more into the shade, and has started to recover nicely.

Mine didn't make it. I think it was due to poor handling by ups tho.

If you are talking about this one which (I also bought from Ronen). I placed mine on the bottom, not in total shade, but definitely not in direct light. Second pic is an FTS, the piece is placed just a little off center to your right close to the rocks. Mind you my lighting is 175 watt MH, and they sit approximately 8" above the water surface with glass covers. And the tank is atleast 24" deep. And it definitely does not have a ton of flow on it. I have anothe piece of the same in my 20g with more light on it, and alot more flow, and it too is doing well. Although the one with the lesser light and flow to me is better colored. Hope that helps. I've had mine a couple of months.

I bought a huge one of these (not from Ronen, from someone else) and I was told they liked moderate lighting. I put mine about halfway up in my tank in direct light from power compacts and over the course of the year, I slowly began to lose it. When I went away, my frag rack fell over and my leather shifted so that the favia was almost completely shaded and guess what? it suddenly started to sprout little baby polyps all over the part that died.

So don't give up! I'd move it to the shade and it should recover. I now had it in the bottom of a tank with MH where it's semi shaded by a rock and it seems to still be doing well. I might move it even farther into the shade.

Thank you all for the great info. I've placed it up down all around in my tank and it still not having good success with it. I't going on the sand in the middle and it's staying there for a while. I hope it makes it. You never know it just might not like my tank. It happens.

AwiBrandy your tank looks real nice

Thanks again.
