I have three pieces of Sinularia flexibis on one rock. Two small and one large. What's the easiest way to spilt this from the rock - without damaging the rock? Is cutting it off at the base a bad idea? Thanks to all in advance.
Sometimes if you are very firm and bold about it, you can actually peel (although it feels more like ripping) a leather from it's rock. The trick is getting it started. I feel this is less traumatic than cutting, and it will attach to the new substrate quicker.
Or you could just cut it off with very sharp scissors or a razor blade. A healthy Sinularia will recover fine from being chopped, but if you cut it off, you will have another one grow from the stump left behind.
