Hey all, I have some nice yellow polyps in my tank, and wanted to know if there is a safe way to transplant some of the polyps one location another. The colony has been growing in one patch, and wanted to spread things out a little bit. Haven't done any fragging yet, so specific info on how to go about cutting, and transplanting the polyp would be appreciated. I have the epoxy on the way. THANKS IN ADVANCE

kind of like pulsating xenia? I had a frag of yellow polyps destroyed by a hermit, they were gone, all that was left was maybe a few yellow specks on the frag. left the frag be now after 1 month... there they are again, very small but definitely yellow polyps coming up.

Polyp transfer

Gently scrape the polyp as close to the rock as possible off the rock with a sharp razor. Put the polyps in small bowl or something that won't float around tank with the rock you wan't the transplants on. cover the container with some onion bag mesh and rubber bands. Then put it in a quite area in the tank. After about a week or two they should take hold of the new rock.Good luck

I had a piece about the size of your in that pic. I broke it in half and glued each half to a different piece of Live Rock using Super Glue Gel. I have now two colonies each with about a hundred yellow polyps each. I find that they reproduce fastest if fed Phyto plankton, then cyclopeeze and lastly brine shrimp. I use Spray-Dried phytoplankton. It comes in powder form and lasts quite a while in your fridge.
