I got a rock from Brenden (Chiefmcfuz) not too long ago that has a toadstool leather and a devils hand leather on it. Upon my return from vacation, I noticed that the devil's hand leather looks better than it ever has, but the toadstool leather (which previously looked gorgeous) has shrunken and is not extending its polyps.

The rock is currently placed in an area of moderate flow. They were previously in an area of lower flow, but I moved them to an area of higher flow and they seemed to both be doing even better - more polyps extended on the devil's hand, and the polyps on the toadstool got even longer.

They are very close together on the rock and tend to touch each other.

Given this information (I can post photos once I manage to find my camera in all of my baggage), are there any suggestions for saving it? It doesn't seem to be dead yet, but something should be done very soon. :(

Leather corals are known to 'close up shop' for a few days, only to reopen as strong as ever. Leave it for a day or 2 more, before attempting to relocate it.

Reef they have been together for over a year on the same rock with no problems except for a pouting session here and there from being moved. Lis there are no holes in it or any signs that it is disintegrating right?

if it is not falling apart, I would just let it be for a few. My leather closes up, and sometimes even turns darker... just to come back as strong as ever. Best of luck

LOL Like I said when I put it up for sale, they are the reefs biggest pouters, something po'd it and it's pouting.

I'm having the same problem with my leather that I picked up from sarahandkevin. When it was in their tank it had full polyp extension. It's been almost two weeks in my tank and no extension. I'll try to get a pic up later.

My leathers used to do this as well, sometimes for up to a week and a half. Then they would let loose with some funky slime for a day or 2, then back to normal. Unless they are "rotting" or otherwise falling apart, leave them be for a while, they'll be back.
