I have a Yuma that adandoned it's rock. I was thinking this would be prime time to slice it up. I know Yumas are tempermental, so I thought I would ask if anyone has successfully fragged a Yuma and has any advise on if I should do it any other way than the Pizza Slice method or anything I should look out for after fragging it. I have two others to fall back on if I'm not successful.

i would really hold off on fragging a yuma. they are very temperamental and don't heal well.

if it has come loose then it probably isn't happy w/ it's location. some of my yumas dettached and found a place they liked better and haven't moved since

i would think you frag it like you would a mushroom, right down the middle making sure you leave a piece of the mouth with each frag. i wouldn't go crazy and frag it eight ways, maybe just one cut down the middle. i haven't done this with yumas so don't take my word for it, but since you have two to fall back on i'd say go for it.

I wouldn't chop up the yuma. Let it re-attach to a rock. I agree with scarface when he said that it probably detached because it's not happy. Chopping it up will kill it for sure. After it has attached itself to a rock, cut the base. The mouth thing is nonsense. As long as each piece has a base, it will grow, not a mouth. If you only cut the base, the pieces you cut will turn into mushrooms and look to get away from the parent colony to get light. When you chop on up from the top, it's a 50/50 shot of it just joins back together. I posted a thread with pics in this forum. I can't seem to find it. Deanos?

It was barely attached when I got it. The other two that came on the rock seam happy. I found a spot where it won't get blown away with the current and has various amonts of light. Hopefully it will settle down on the sand and then I'll try cutting it after it settles in for a while.

Give what I said a try on the ones that are still attached. IMHO, best way to frag them. You'll have that rock covered with yumas in no time.

Hey guys. Sup psycho. Is this the yuma I wanted lol. Don't chop it up it will die .Scare and louismustdie are right. It will need a base when they reproduce asexually they bud from their foot. They are not as hardy as a discosoma when it comes to fragging their tissue seems to hold a lot more water within them than shrooms. Also if u try this might help u to succeed buy some stockings at riteaid and tie as little as u can around the yuma. This will keep it in place.but Rinse the stockings with tap water and let it dry then tie.
