What causes a chalice to recede?

Thoughts? I have a chalice at the bottom of my 156. It's been there for 1.5 years and doing very well. It has started to recede. I don;t have hermt crabs or anything else that could be picking at it.

Running GFO in dual monster media reactor. Water changes 15-20% every 7-10 days

Do u have a pic? Also has your mag also been at 1350 chalices like higher mag

More or less. Anything higher than 8 and the tips of my SPS turn white.

Yeah that white is growth. I run my tank at
Ca 430

Mg. 1450

I have no issues. So maybe strive for that and see what it does for you.

Nah, that's t growth. That skeleton was once covered with tissue. The tissue is receding. Thanks.

You have more then one chalice if so this the only one doing it have you moved it Recently anything by it to string it Etc
