Over the past year or so I've had my eye on a piece of live rock in the local aquarium store show tank. I finally inquired about it and talked the owner into selling it to me. My purpose for buying the rock was for a brilliantly yellow sponge covering about 40% of it's surface. It shares the rock with miniature tube worms that are growing beneath the tissue of the sponge (maybe symbiotic?). Maybe the sponge just decided to grow over them? The tube worms are quite small and resemble strands of spaghetti flowing in the current. The rock itself is about 2.5 pounds and around 8 inches in diameter. It was in a show tank with many corals and a few tangs.
If anyone has any info about this type of sponge it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tom
