Both of these pictures were taken a while back and they have since disappeared. However, the tentacled blob hung around for a number of months and actually moved around a little bit, albeit very slowly. It generally stayed within a few inches of where I first noticed it. The feelers would sometimes stretch out about a half inch or so and at other times they would be retracted.

I never noticed the second creature moving and I suspect it was eventually eaten by my tank inhabitants, since it was well exposed on the tank glass. It was basically a little blob with long shoots running along the glass.

Thanks!

The first looks very much like a sponge.

I believe the second is a sessile ctenophore; did the threads look like this?

Yes, the threads looked like that, although they were along the glass and not free-flowing. I can't tell from your picture if yours are free-flowing.

On the first picture, I didn't readily think sponge because I've never noticed one move around like this one or extend appendages.

Thanks for your input!
