What is it

It is hydnophora. Don't put it too close to anything else. It has a nasty sting towards other corals and always seems to be the winner of the battle. Other than that it is an easy to maintain, fast growing coral.

Does it always look like that or is it just retracted?

Since it if always look like that i would call it Pavona.

Hynophora is usually very easy to identify due to its distinctive tentacles.

I've only had it for 4 days but I have not seen any polips.
I've checked at night various hours and it looks exactly the
same

I finally found it. Sometime you just gota keep searching
instead of bailing out and asking for help. Thanks for the replys.
They pointed me in the right direction.

That was the first coral that popped in my mind when I saw the picture. I should have just said it.

Oh well. I was wrong. I don't know why I thought it was Hynophora. Now that I look at it, it really doesn't look anything like it.
