My mother has ask me to find out what this might be, here is what she said "Can anyone tell me what this is? It came attached with a Gorgonian I ordered off internet. He has a hard outer shell and feather things on the end. They seem soft. He can attached himself to rock by his back side, and can move around the tank. I am not sure how he moves, but he does, I find him on different rocks. When I come closer, he seems to pull together a little as if closing something."

Some type of clam or mussle or scallop (most likely not a scallop though), as to the name, don't know. Where is the gorgonian from, ie. the caribbean or south pacific? If you don't know that, post a pic of the gorgonian. That will help us narrow it down a bit. My guess is its from the caribbean, but it appears some one has borrowed all my caribbean books, so I can't find out right now.
