Yesterday I bought some green/purply mushroom corals.

I am seeing today that I have an unknown resident in a small hole on the side of the rock.

I've tried to take pictures with no success.

It's very small, maybe 1/4 the size of a dime with long tentacles. When I take pictues of this creature, the tentacles show up as blue as if they were almost like fishing line to the naked eye.

Has anyone come across this before?

Well, without a pic, it's hard to say.

The fine tentacles sound like filter feeding "hands" that could extend from any number of creatures ranging from worms to crusaceans. I once had a chunk of LR that was covered in unmoving filter feeding crabs. They stuck their little fine-haired hands out a small hole (which was too small for them to pass through, thus confining them in the hole for life, I think) and wave them around in the current. I also have fanworms that sound like what you describe. In yet another tank I have yet another worm that resembles what you describe except all I see poking out are two antenna made of that fine "fiber optic" material.

keep trying for some pix

I have those fiber optic things in my tank too.. I posted about that as well cause I didn't know what they are.

Still don't.

But this creepy crawly thing is quite interesting and kinda nerve wracking.
