Jellyfish?

While walking by the San Francisco Bay, I came upon these little things that a friend tells me are jellyfish. Is she correct and, if so, what is the name of this one? They were just a little smaller than the picture below. Thanks for an identification or pointers about where to go to find out what it is.

Hhhmm...that's a real tough one, it's hard to even venture an I.D. when it's just a blob on the sand. Maybe California Fish & Game has some information.

Hmm, with no visible protruding tentacles, it reminds me of eggs of some creatures.

It's a young moon jellyfish. There was a center near where I found it that gave me the ID. Thanks for the other replies trying to help.
