I isolated and caught a small mantis ~1.5" six months ago.

After addition of more LR, over the last two weeks, I just noticed a few small (1/8" maybe longer) critters flying around. The only reason I bring up the mantis was is speed, these new little guys move about as fast as my old menace.

Any other, hopefully good, hitchhikers move this quickly??

How big are the "flying mantis" you are seeing? Amphipods has front "claws" that resemble mantis' and they do zip around the rocks. I am guessing you are seeing amphipods. Amphipods are usually no longer then 1/3"

Thanks for the reply, danmhippo!

These little guys must be somewhere in the 1/8" range. I say flying because they seem to be swimming, not crawling. They are so small and move so fast, that I am not 100%. This also attributes to the fact that I'm not very sure on the body shape, including appendages.
