I cna't take a picture of this thing, but I'll try to explain it. Any thoughts as to what it is are appreciated. This creature is about the length of elbow macaroni and is opaque with a tinge of purple. At first I thought it was the beginning of a coraline circle, but changed my mind when I saw that it has two tentacles that retract at it's will. These tentacles are about the width of a piece of thread and are about 6in. in length when they are fully out (usually they're out at night). It's body (for lack of a better term) is virtually flat with only a slightly raised area.
I know it would be better if I had a picture, but I don't own the right kind of camera. If anyone has any ideas please enlighten me. Thanks.

Sounds like a spaghetti worm. I've got lots of these in my tank. They make a calcareous tube and they put their "feelers" out to pick up detritus. They're good for your tank.

or is it possibly a tube-snail. These build a tube similar to a feather duster and usually in my experience have 2 feeler type tentacles sweeping the area. Spagetti Worms have multiple arms ... although i have yet to see a baby ... and hide in the sand (usually ... have not seen one that liked the glass ... )

Sounds like some sort of snail to me, or maybe a cowry of some sort. The bump you are seeing is probably a very small shell that gets covered in flesh when the animal is out and about. The two eye stalks/antenna would suggest something in that family of mollusk. Try and figure out what it's foot shape is. If it's rounded and not bifurcated, and appears to be more of a suction cup, then maybe it's a limpet or something similar covered in coralline. If it's elongated and you can make out 2 parts to it used to move around, it's probably a snail of some sort.
