ID of black worms...

After adding live sand about two months ago, I am starting to see loads of little black worms. They are no longer than 2/8" and thinner than a human hair. They seems to live in the sand bed, but like to stick to the glass.

Unfortunatly, I cannot take a pic. My main concern is that there are so many of them and that I have never seen them before. There are litterally hundreds of them.

Does anyone have any ideas?

You'd be surprised at the numbers of different critters i.e. worms, sponges, crustaceans, snails and other single celled organisms thrive in your sand bed. This is the sign of a healthy sand bed.
To answer your question though, and without a pic they could be ribbon worms or bristle worms or round worms all of different phyla and species.
Remember there are over 17 phyla of marine worms and only about 100,000 have been identified.
