With several days in the 90s & 100s this summer, how did you manage to maintain your aquarium's temperature during the heatwaves? You can choose multiple methods. If your method is not listed above, please share with us your method. Thanks!

Thanks to Inkblue for suggesting the poll topic.

A/C only lost power 2 times and was ok the first time. second time was a problem, lost some nice livestock but because the wife didn't tell me we lost power for 5 hours. If I had known I would have put the Ice bottles in the tank.

Chiller for the most part. Occasionally the room AC to give it a break. I learned a long time ago that piece of mind is priceless. I never worry about hot days.

Russ,

47 BRING IT ON. I've already put the wife on notice to break out with the winter comforter and open every window in the house!!

BACK TO TOPIC:
I can't understand my heat problem. I have the central AC set between 68-70. I have one 250w MH on an icecap ballast. Two 24" VHOs also on an icecap. I Have two 4" Fans in My canopy, one blowing one sucking. I used to have the MH come on at 10:00am but by the time I got home at 5:00pm I would find my tank temp at like 85. Luckily my tank isn't really too stocked yet. I did lose that noso tang I was have a problem feeding ( and I finally got him to eat regularly about a month ago.)
Now I wait until I get home to put the MH on, so I'm only getting a 3-4 hour MH period. The tank temp before the MH is 79.9. Anyone got a fix?

My room ac saved the day for me. The tank is in a small room so I only needed a small ~5amp ac. Otherwise the chiller was struggling a bit with the room air temp so high. It didn't have any cool air going thru it so it wasn't working nearly as well as it needed to.

But today, bring on the cool fresh air (well, less CO2-filled air :lol2:).
